The India-UK ‘2+2′ dialogue examined cooperation in the areas of energy, trade, investment, defence, critical technologies, civil aviation, and healthcare. It also talked about international developments, especially in the Indo-Pacific region, and anti-terrorism initiatives. The discussion precedes a possible visit by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and is a component of the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership.

Opportunities for collaboration in trade, investment, defence, developing technologies, civil aviation, healthcare, culture, and interpersonal relationships were discussed. In addition to discussing increased cooperation in maritime security, humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and counterterrorism, both parties have a common vision for a peaceful Indo-Pacific region.

In May 2021, the India-UK relationship was elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, complete with a ten-year plan for enhancing collaboration in trade, security, defence, and other areas, among others.

The Indian delegation was co-chaired by officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and the defence ministry, while the UK delegation was led by representatives from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the Ministry of Defence. Both delegations expressed satisfaction with high-level exchanges that have been guiding India-UK relations.
